Via Regis (Kings’ Road)

This is how I get on my viareggino’s nerves 😀 (Il faro di Viareggio)

In the past this medium-sized Tuscan town was established on Via Regis (i.e. King’s Road) which connected the fortifications on the beach with Lucca. It was often nicknamed as la terra del diavolo (the devil’s land) since it often raged with malaria because of the swamp that existed there in the beginning. Actually, locals sometimes used that name because of that swamp, which was an incubator of the disease, and became like “a second prison” for all prisoners imprisoned in Lucca who were brought in the town in question in the 19th century. Have you guessed which town we are going to today? Yes, right. This is the Pearl of Tyrrhenian Sea. This is … Continue reading

Casco Antiguo

There’re few places which I have fallen in love with at first sight. The reasons are simple.

Their atmosphere is irresistible and enchanting …  Their tiny houses are arranged in narrow lanes along which you might get lost pleasantly…

A fortress built on the hill above is somehow like protection for the settlement.

As to sea … as to sea, the “”Big Blue Water” amazes you underneath and enchants you with its spectacular views. When you cast a glance in front of you, you see that awe-inspiring “blue” horizon where sky and sea merge with each other. Yes, such a place is el Casco Antiguo inContinue reading

Akra Leuka

The town we are going to travel to today, is one of the pearls of Southern Spain. It is situated in the province of the Valencian Community. Moreover, the town in question is one of the Mediterranean treasures located in a grand baia on Coasta Blanca and is washed by the waters of il Mare Nostrum.

By the way, apart from being one of the famous tourist places of Spain, it is a town rich in history. Yes, it’s really a very antique settlement. Maybe you are still wondering where I will bring to you today, aren’t you?

Okay, then, just trust me. I won’t let you down at all. Just on the opposite, I will try to make your day brighter by fetching you to Akra Leuka, i.e. to … Continue reading

Closer to the Sky than the Sea

152 Closer to the Sky than the Sea_1Summer isn’t still coming. It is still cold and nasty, snowy and white … Brrrr … The sun is trying to shine on but in vain. The blue sky is being hidden by dark grey clouds. “Nice”, a? People in major have only one option under such conditions – to dream of summer and seaside touristy gems, pristine beaches and turquoise crystal water. But if we think a little do we really need such extremely overcrowded seaside spots even in our dreams? Nope. We might visit out-of-the radar seaside places imaginarily far away from the hubbub and crowds that are closer to the sky than the sea. And why couldn’t they be scattered somewhere in Bel Paese? Continue reading
